Federal Authorities Arrest Six Maryland Women Involved in Nationwide Burglary Ring

NORWOOD, Massachusetts — A residential burglary in a quiet Boston suburb has exposed a nationwide criminal network, leading to the arrest of six Maryland women and the involvement of federal immigration authorities.

The Norwood Break-In and Police Pursuit

On July 25, 2025, residents of a home on Neponset Street in Norwood, Massachusetts, returned to their property to find six female intruders inside. Upon being confronted, the suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle. Norwood police officers quickly spotted the vehicle, initiating a brief pursuit. The suspects eventually abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. A coordinated search involving canine units and local officers successfully located and apprehended all six individuals.

Charges and Suspect Identification

The arrested individuals were identified as Mirabela Caldarau, Jajela Chiciu, Flavia Caldararu, Emilia Sardaru, Mihaela Ion, and Elizabeth Sardaru, all residing in Maryland. They were charged in Dedham District Court with daytime breaking and entering, conspiracy, possession of burglarious tools, and resisting arrest. Police recovered specialized tools commonly used to bypass home security locks from the suspects' vehicle.

Federal ICE Intervention

Following their initial arraignment, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents placed detainer holds on the suspects, taking three of the women into federal custody upon their release on bail. ICE officials confirmed that the women are part of an organized multi-state burglary ring targeting affluent residential neighborhoods across the United States. Federal investigators noted that several of the suspects had active warrants and prior criminal histories involving similar burglary operations in multiple other states.
