Oakland Burglary Suspect Doug Martin Dies Following Medical Emergency During Arrest

OAKLAND, CA — A burglary investigation in Oakland ended in a fatality after a suspect experienced a medical emergency during his arrest, according to local authorities. The deceased has been identified by the Oakland Police Department as Doug Martin.

Police officers responded to reports of an ongoing commercial burglary in Oakland. Upon arrival, officers encountered Martin, who was allegedly active in the commission of the crime. As officers proceeded to detain and arrest the suspect, he began experiencing a severe and sudden medical emergency.

First responders and police personnel immediately administered emergency medical aid on-site before Martin was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital. Despite the life-saving efforts of medical staff, Martin was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
