Modified Minivan Used to Steal Nearly 300 Gallons of Fuel from Ocala Gas Station
OCALA, Florida — Authorities in Ocala are investigating a sophisticated commercial theft after security footage revealed suspects stealing nearly 300 gallons of fuel using a specially modified minivan.
The incident occurred at a local convenience store and gas station. According to investigators, the suspects parked a minivan directly over the station's underground fuel storage tanks. Under the cover of the vehicle's tinted windows, they managed to access the pump fill ports and siphon a massive volume of fuel.
High-Volume Fuel Theft Tactics
Police report that the minivan had been modified internally to house large storage bladders and an electric pump system, allowing it to rapidly extract and store fuel without drawing immediate attention from station staff or customers.
The Ocala Police Department has released video clips of the suspect vehicle in the hope that members of the public will recognize the modified minivan or have information regarding similar fuel theft rings operating in the Marion County area.
