Odessa Police Search for Suspects in $8,000 Copper Theft Incident

ODESSA, Texas — Investigators with the Odessa Police Department are seeking help from the community to identify suspects responsible for a high-value theft of copper material.

According to police reports released in mid-January 2025, the suspects managed to steal copper wiring and/or tubing estimated to be worth over $8,000. Copper thefts are often targeted at commercial sites, construction areas, or utility facilities due to the scrap value of the metal. The theft has caused concern among local business operations due to the high cost of replacement and repair.

The Odessa PD has requested that anyone who has information about the theft, saw suspicious vehicles hauling large amounts of copper wire, or has been approached by individuals attempting to sell scrap copper under suspicious circumstances, call the Odessa Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (432) 333-TIPS.
