Houston Man Arrested in Connection with Stolen Truck and Truist Bank ATM Theft in Odessa
ODESSA, Texas — A multi-month investigation into a coordinated ATM theft has resulted in the arrest of a Houston man by the Odessa Police Department. Jedeyn Deyun Johnson, 21, was arrested on January 13, 2026, in connection with the heist that took place at a local financial institution in late 2025.
The original incident occurred in the early morning hours of October 3, 2025, at the Truist Bank branch located at 4900 East 42nd Street in Odessa. According to police files, officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm at the bank and arrived to find that the drive-through ATM had been severely damaged and breached. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing multiple masked suspects using a white pickup truck to rip open the ATM structure before stealing the cash cassettes inside.
During the initial scene investigation, officers located the white pickup truck abandoned nearby. A registration check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Midland, Texas, just hours before the ATM heist. Odessa Police Department detectives, working in conjunction with crime scene technicians, analyzed physical evidence and digital surveillance footage to trace the suspects' movements.
Following a months-long investigation, detectives successfully identified Johnson as one of the individuals involved in the theft ring. Arrest warrants were subsequently issued, and Johnson was taken into custody on January 13, 2026. He was booked into the Ector County Detention Center on charges of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Theft of Property (ATM), both of which carry significant felony penalties under Texas law.
The Odessa Police Department noted that while Johnson has been apprehended, the investigation remains active. Authorities are working to identify and locate the remaining masked co-conspirators involved in the heist. Anyone with information regarding the October 3 incident is encouraged to contact the Odessa Police Department or Odessa Crime Stoppers.
