Serial Pharmacy Robber Wesley Mark Bingham Behind Bars After Crime Spree Across Odessa

ODESSA, Texas — A serial pharmacy robber targeting high-potency prescription medications is behind bars after a months-long crime spree that rattled Odessa pharmacy employees and shoppers. Wesley Mark Bingham, a 68-year-old resident of Odessa, is facing multiple counts of aggravated robbery and tampering with physical evidence after being arrested three separate times in connection with robberies and attempted heists at local pharmacies, including United Supermarkets and CVS Pharmacy.

The crime spree began on March 9, 2026, when an armed robbery was reported at the CVS Pharmacy located at 3050 West University Boulevard in West Odessa. A suspect, described as an elderly man with a distinct hunchback and a noticeable limp, entered the store wearing camouflage clothing and a face covering. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded prescription medications, specifically targeting hydrocodone and oxycodone. Despite a significant police response, the suspect managed to escape, leaving investigators with limited clues beyond his unique physical description.

Two months later, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, a similar robbery took place at the United Supermarkets pharmacy at 2751 North County Road West. The robber, matching the same physical profile, entered wearing a black mask, hat, and gloves, and demanded hydrocodone and fentanyl patches. During this incident, the suspect also confiscated witnesses' mobile phones to prevent them from calling for help. Utilizing local surveillance and Flock safety camera data, Odessa police tracked a suspect vehicle, which led them to Bingham's home in the 1800 block of Alamosa Street. Bingham was arrested on May 14, 2026, and charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery. Investigators also formally connected him to the March CVS robbery.

However, after posting bond, Bingham was released back into the community. His freedom was short-lived. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, police responded to a third pharmacy robbery attempt at another CVS Pharmacy location, this time at 4104 West 42nd Street. Employees reported that an elderly man matching Bingham’s description attempted to rob the pharmacy for prescription narcotics but was unsuccessful. Bingham was quickly apprehended by responding officers nearby.

Following this final attempt, Bingham was booked into the Ector County Detention Center with an increased total bond set at $165,000. He is now charged with multiple counts of Aggravated Robbery and Tampering with Physical Evidence. The Odessa Police Department confirmed that the investigation is now being finalized for prosecution, ending a dangerous series of armed pharmacy robberies that put local pharmacy staff at constant risk.
