Omaha Tow Truck Driver Accused of Stealing Six Vehicles from Used Car Lot

OMAHA, Nebraska โ€” A local tow truck driver is facing serious legal consequences after authorities accused him of orchestrating a brazen vehicle theft operation targeting a local used car dealership's storage facility. According to Omaha Police Department reports, the suspect allegedly utilized his commercial tow truck to transport and steal at least six vehicles from the dealership's overflow storage lot.

The dealership owners raised alarms after conducting a routine inventory assessment at their secondary storage lot, discovering that multiple vehicles had disappeared without any corresponding sales records. Investigative efforts, which included reviewing nearby surveillance footage and tracking gate access logs, eventually pointed investigators to a licensed tow operator active in the area.

According to investigators, the suspect used his professional status and standard towing equipment to systematically remove the vehicles from the premises over a period of time, likely counting on the assumption that a tow truck moving cars would not arouse suspicion among neighbors or passersby. Authorities have recovered several of the stolen vehicles and are investigating whether the suspect attempted to sell the cars for parts or resell them with altered registration documents.

The driver now faces multiple counts of grand theft auto and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Police have urged local storage lot operators and auto dealers to maintain tight inventory control and monitor access logs regularly to prevent similar commercial-vehicle-assisted thefts.
