Homeowner Fatally Shoots Intruder During West Philadelphia Home Invasion

PHILADELPHIA, PA — An attempted home invasion in West Philadelphia ended with a fatal shooting on Monday night, February 3, 2025. The incident took place on the 1000 block of Cobbs Creek Parkway, where a husband and wife in their 60s were inside their residence.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the couple noticed a man tampering with their front door via their Ring doorbell camera. When the homeowner went to investigate, the 64-year-old suspect forced his way through the front door. The homeowner fired a single shot, striking the intruder in the chest.

Emergency medical services transported the suspect to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m. Police confirmed the homeowners did not know the suspect and are cooperating fully with the investigation. The case is being reviewed by the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office to determine if any charges are warranted.
