Philadelphia Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing Over $1.1 Million in ATM Burglary Spree
PHILADELPHIA, PA โ A Philadelphia man has admitted to his role in a sophisticated ATM burglary ring that targeted dozens of automated teller machines across the region, netting more than $1.1 million in stolen cash.
Federal prosecutors announced that the defendant entered a guilty plea in federal court on February 9, 2024. The charges stem from a coordinated series of burglaries where the perpetrator and his co-conspirators utilized specialized tools to break into ATM machines, bypassing security measures to extract large sums of currency.
According to court documents, the crime spree spanned several months and caused significant physical damage to the targeted machines and the properties hosting them. Law enforcement agencies, including local police and federal investigators, tracked the suspect through surveillance footage, financial records, and physical evidence left at the scenes. The defendant now faces substantial prison time and is expected to be ordered to pay full restitution at his upcoming sentencing hearing.
