Philadelphia Police Seek Public's Help to Identify 6 Suspected of Burglarizing East Germantown Store
PHILADELPHIA, PA โ The Philadelphia Police Department has released surveillance video and is requesting assistance from the public to identify six men suspected of burglarizing a commercial business in the East Germantown neighborhood.
The burglary occurred late Tuesday night at a convenience and retail store located on the 5600 block of Germantown Avenue. According to police, the group of six individuals arrived together, smashed the front glass door of the establishment to gain entry, and proceeded to steal a significant amount of merchandise, including electronics, cigarettes, and cash from the register.
The surveillance footage shows the suspects, all described as young men wearing dark hoodies, face masks, and gloves, working quickly to clear shelves before fleeing the scene on foot. The total cost of the stolen property and structural damage is estimated at several thousand dollars.
Detectives with the Northwest Detective Division are investigating the incident. Police are asking anyone who recognizes any of the suspects or has information regarding the burglary to submit an anonymous tip or contact the tip line directly.
Business owners in the East Germantown corridor are urged to review their own security systems and ensure their alarms are fully functional. The police department is increasing foot patrols in the commercial district during overnight hours to deter further commercial break-ins. Local merchants have voiced frustration over rising commercial burglaries, urging city officials to take swifter action.
