Suspects in Lifted Dodge Ram Steal Safe from Phoenix Jewelry Store

A local commercial burglary investigation is focusing heavily on a highly recognizable getaway vehicle. Authorities in Phoenix are currently searching for at least two suspects who orchestrated an early morning break-in at a jewelry store, successfully making off with the business's primary safe.

The Early Morning Heist

The burglary occurred at a strip mall located near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Union Hills. According to investigators, the incident unfolded just before 4:00 a.m. on April 21. Surveillance footage recovered from the scene shows a high-profile vehicle actively casing the commercial center before the break-in.

At least two suspects forced entry into the jewelry store. Once inside, they bypassed the display cases and immediately targeted the business's safe. Authorities confirmed the suspects managed to physically remove the safe from the premises. The stolen safe contained an undisclosed amount of valuable jewelry and U.S. currency.

The "Hoonigan" Getaway Vehicle

While detectives currently lack specific physical descriptions of the suspects themselves, they have a clear image of the getaway vehicle. The suspects fled the scene in a lifted Dodge Ram pickup truck. Crucially, the truck features a massive, highly distinct "Hoonigan" decal spanning the entire top of the front windshield.

Due to the truck's unique and highly recognizable customization, investigators strongly believe that someone in the local community—a neighbor, a mechanic, or a family member—will be able to identify the vehicle. Silent Witness is currently offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for any anonymous tips that lead to an arrest in the case.

Anchoring High-Value Safes

This incident highlights a critical flaw in many commercial security setups: a safe is only secure if it cannot be moved. If suspects can physically remove a safe from the building, they have unlimited time and heavy tools at a secondary location to crack it open. To prevent safe theft:

  • Concrete Anchoring: Never rely on the sheer weight of a safe. Commercial safes must be physically bolted directly into the building's concrete foundation using heavy-duty masonry anchors drilled through the bottom of the safe.
  • Concealed Placement: Do not place the primary safe in a visible back office or near an exterior loading door. Locate the safe deep within the interior of the building, ideally in a reinforced room with a narrow doorway that makes it physically impossible to roll the safe out using a dolly.
