Imposter Burglary: Man Posing as ICE Agent Forces Way Into Pittsburgh Home

PITTSBURGH, PA — Local authorities are warning residents to remain alert after a man impersonating a federal agent forced his way into a Pittsburgh residence during a brazen home invasion.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the suspect knocked on the victim's door claiming to be an agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Believing the suspect was a law enforcement official, the occupant opened the door, at which point the imposter forced his way inside the house.

Once inside, the suspect conducted an unauthorized search of the premises, demanding valuables. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and personal items, the suspect fled the scene. Detectives are reviewing security footage from neighboring properties to identify the suspect. Police remind the public that official federal agents carry distinct, verifiable credentials and recommend verifying the identity of any agent through official dispatch channels before granting entry.
