Pleasanton Police Investigating String of Violent Residential Burglaries and Home Invasions

PLEASANTON, California โ€” The Pleasanton Police Department has launched a comprehensive investigation into a string of closely linked residential burglaries and violent home invasions that occurred in late February and early March 2026. The series of crimes, which involved physical assaults and the brandishing of weapons, has left local neighborhoods on high alert as detectives search for the suspect or suspects involved.

The crime spree began on the evening of Friday, February 27, 2026, in the southern district of Pleasanton. Shortly before 7:00 p.m., an intruder entered a residence on Hansen Drive. Upon being confronted by a teenage resident inside the home, the suspect discharged pepper spray directly at the victim before fleeing empty-handed. Around the same time, another residential burglary was reported nearby on Via Del Cielo. Home security cameras in the area captured footage of a male suspect wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and white athletic shoes, whom investigators believe is connected to both incidents.

The behavior of the perpetrator escalated significantly on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, 2026. At approximately 8:00 p.m., a homeowner on Mohr Avenue encountered an intruder in his backyard. The suspect drew a handgun and forced the homeowner back inside the house. Once inside, the intruder physically assaulted both the male homeowner and his wife. The suspect then fled the property by scaling neighboring fences. Police K-9 units and aerial drone support were deployed immediately to establish a perimeter, but the suspect managed to evade capture. Fortunately, the victims' physical injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, and the firearm was not discharged during the encounter.

The suspect in the Mohr Avenue home invasion is described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing dark clothing and a face mask. Authorities believe the same individual may be responsible for the entire series of crimes due to similarities in geography and execution. Pleasanton Police have urged residents to verify that all doors and windows are locked, activate residential security systems, and report any suspicious activity immediately to their dispatch line at 925-931-5100.
