Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with Armed Robbery of Pleasanton Smoke Shop
PLEASANTON, California โ Authorities have announced the successful arrest of two suspects wanted in connection with the armed robbery of the Fireball Smoke Shop in Pleasanton. The joint operation, involving local detectives and out-of-state law enforcement agencies, has culminated in the booking of the suspects on severe felony charges.
The armed robbery took place on the night of Monday, March 2, 2026, in a commercial plaza along the 1600 block of Second Street. Police reports indicate that a masked male suspect entered the business, brandished a handgun at the cashier, and demanded cash from the register. After obtaining an undisclosed sum of money, the gunman exited the store and fled in a waiting vehicle driven by an accomplice. No employees were physically harmed during the encounter, though the staff was left deeply shaken by the threat of violence.
Pleasanton Police detectives launched an intensive investigation, analyzing high-definition security camera footage from the business and neighboring shops. Witnesses provided key details regarding the suspects' physical descriptions and the getaway vehicle, allowing investigators to identify the primary suspects as 51-year-old Kristopher Guzman and 50-year-old Andrew Gomez. Arrest warrants were subsequently obtained for both individuals on charges of aggravated robbery.
Following a multi-agency coordination effort, the two suspects were tracked to separate residential addresses in Poteet, Texas. Local law enforcement officers in Texas executed the arrest warrants, taking both Guzman and Gomez into custody without further incident. The suspects were booked into the Atascosa County Jail, where they remain held pending extradition proceedings back to face trial. Local authorities expressed gratitude for the cross-jurisdictional cooperation that led to the swift resolution of the case.
