Portland Police Seek Suspect in Downtown Sushi Restaurant Burglary
PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Police Bureau is calling on the public to help identify a suspect captured on surveillance footage during a commercial burglary at a downtown dining establishment.
According to police reports, officers responded to a burglary alarm at Hana Sushi Restaurant, located at 506 Southwest 6th Avenue, early on the morning of Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 6:11 a.m.
Details of the Break-In
Investigators state that the suspect forced entry into the restaurant, causing substantial physical damage to the property. Once inside, the individual targeted the register and other areas, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash and several business items. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect's movements before he fled the scene, traveling southbound on Southwest 6th Avenue.
Suspect Description
The Portland Police Bureau's Burglary Task Force has released the following description of the suspect:
- Gender/Race: Caucasian male
- Age: Approximately 30 to 40 years old
- Height: 5 feet, 9 inches tall
- Clothing: A dark-colored New Balance jacket over a blueish-gray hooded sweatshirt, dark blue pants (jeans or sweatpants), and black-and-white athletic shoes.
- Accessories: The suspect was carrying a prominent black Adidas backpack.
Call for Public Assistance
Business burglaries remain a persistent challenge for downtown merchants. Police are urging anyone who recognizes the individual in the surveillance photos or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity of SW 6th Avenue on the morning of February 4 to contact detectives.
