Portland Small Business Targeted by Burglar on Eve of Mother's Day Weekend
PORTLAND, OR โ A local small business in Portland was target of a commercial burglary just one day before Mother's Day, one of the most critical shopping weekends of the year for local merchants.
The owners discovered the break-in early in the morning, finding shattered glass at the entrance and a ransacked interior. The thieves made off with cash from the register, point-of-sale tablets, and high-value retail inventory that had been prepared specifically for the holiday rush.
Timing of Break-in Inflicts Maximum Impact
The timing of the crime was particularly painful, forcing the business to spend precious hours cleaning up debris and securing the premises instead of serving customers. Despite the disruption, the owners expressed gratitude for the local community members who stepped in to help clean the shop and buy gift cards to offset the financial impact.
Security footage capturing the incident has been handed over to investigators. Portland police are looking into potential links between this incident and other recent storefront break-ins in the surrounding commercial district.
