Southeast Portland Vintage Shop Reels After Back-to-Back Vandalism and Burglary

PORTLAND, Ore. โ€” A cherished vintage clothing and home goods shop in Southeast Portland is struggling to recover after a string of criminal acts targeted their storefront twice in just a few weeks. The double blow of vandalism followed by a commercial burglary has highlighted the ongoing challenges facing small business owners in the city.

The first incident occurred early in the month when vandals shattered the shop's front window, leaving the owners with a costly repair bill and temporary boarding. While the owners were still sorting out insurance and waiting for glass replacement, a burglar managed to breach the temporary boarding on Thursday, May 28, 2026. The intruder entered the shop and stole curated vintage items, electronics, and cash from the register.

โ€œIt is exhausting and disheartening,โ€ the owner said, explaining that as an independent shop, these consecutive setbacks hit their bottom line hard. โ€œWe put a lot of love into curating this space for the community, and having it damaged and stolen from twice in such a short time is a massive emotional and financial strain.โ€

Community members have rallied to support the vintage shop, offering assistance with repairs and sharing security footage on social media to help identify the suspect. The Portland Police Bureau is investigating both the vandalism and burglary. Anyone with information is asked to contact police and reference the case details.
