Repeatedly Targeted SE Portland Smoke Shop Hit by Armed Robbery and Christmas Eve Ram-Raid
PORTLAND, Ore. โ A smoke shop in Southeast Portland has become the focal point of a startling crime wave, suffering multiple major incidents within a span of just one week. The shop has reportedly been targeted by burglars and robbers 15 times, highlighting growing concerns among local business owners regarding safety and commercial security.
The first major incident in the recent string occurred on Thursday, December 18, 2025. According to the Portland Police Bureau, an armed robbery took place at the establishment, leading to a swift police response. The suspect, identified as an 18-year-old male, fled the scene, prompting a high-speed police pursuit through southeast neighborhoods. Officers ultimately managed to intercept the suspect and take him into custody without further incident. He faces multiple charges, including armed robbery and fleeing from police.
Despite the arrest, the shop's troubles were far from over. Less than a week later, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, thieves struck the business again using a highly destructive tactic. Surveillance footage and physical evidence show that the perpetrators used a vehicle to ram directly through the shop's storefront, shattering the glass and compromising the building's structural facade. The suspects quickly entered the breached business, stealing merchandise before fleeing in the vehicle prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
The store owner expressed deep frustration and exhaustion over the situation, noting that the Christmas Eve incident represents one of approximately 15 burglaries and attempted break-ins targeting the shop. โIt feels like we are constantly rebuilding and looking over our shoulders,โ the owner remarked, calling for increased police presence and stronger community intervention in the area. The Portland Police Bureau is continuing its investigation into the ram-raid and checking for possible connections to other retail thefts in the region.
