Police Release Video of Suspect Striking Officer with Rock Following Portland Home Invasion

PORTLAND, Oregon — The Portland Police Bureau has released video footage documenting a violent confrontation in which a home invasion suspect struck an officer with a large rock.

The incident began when officers responded to reports of an active home invasion in progress. The suspect fled the residence as officers arrived on the scene, leading to a foot pursuit through the neighborhood. When officers attempted to contain the suspect, he allegedly grabbed a large rock and struck one of the responding officers with it.

The video released by the bureau shows the physical altercation and the moment the officer was assaulted. The officer sustained injuries and was treated at a local hospital. Additional police units arrived shortly after the assault, and the suspect was taken into custody following a brief struggle. He now faces multiple felony charges, including home invasion, assault on a public safety officer, and resisting arrest.
