Armed Robbery at Gunpoint Reported at 24-Hour Walgreens in Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI — Local law enforcement authorities are active in investigating an armed robbery that took place at a 24-hour Walgreens pharmacy in Providence. The incident, which unfolded rapidly, has raised security concerns for late-night retail locations operating in the metropolitan area.

According to preliminary details, a male suspect entered the commercial premises wearing a dark ski mask to obscure his identity. Upon entering, the individual approached the service counter, produced a firearm, and demanded that the store personnel surrender cash from the registers. Facing the immediate threat of lethal force, the store employees complied with the assailant's demands. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of money.

Providence Police responded to the dispatch call shortly after the suspect’s departure.
