Outrage After Viral Video Shows Federal Agents Storming Queens Apartment at Gunpoint
EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS โ A video circulating widely on social media has ignited a fierce debate over immigration enforcement tactics in New York City. The footage captures the tense moments when armed federal agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) entered a Queens family's apartment in East Elmhurst with guns drawn, leaving a mother and her young children terrified.
The incident occurred on the morning of November 20, 2025. In the footage, a mother is seen holding her two-year-old child while pleading with agents for their safety, as a 12-year-old child stands nearby. Community advocates, led by the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), immediately condemned the raid, describing it as a 'warrantless home invasion.' Advocates allege that the agents failed to present a judicial warrant and were searching for an individual who did not reside at the address.
"This is a clear example of the aggressive and lawless tactics that terrorize our communities," said a representative from the coalition. "Storming a home with young children present without a proper warrant is unacceptable."
However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has strongly disputed these allegations. A DHS spokesperson characterized the claims that agents threatened the woman and children with firearms as false. According to the agency, ICE officers knocked on the apartment door for approximately 20 minutes before lawfully entering the residence under established training and procedures. DHS stated that the woman in the video was a relative of the suspect they were seeking, who reportedly has a history of criminal activity.
The commotion was loud enough to alarm neighbors, who initially feared an active robbery or home invasion and called the New York Police Department (NYPD). Responding NYPD officers were reportedly waved off by the federal agents upon arrival. Local advocates continue to demand a full investigation into the raid, calling for greater accountability and protection for immigrant families in Queens.
