Wedding Day Nightmare: Queens Groom Robbed of Home and Family Business in Coordinated Theft
EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS โ A Queens groom experienced a heartbreaking turn of events on his wedding day when thieves executed what appears to be a coordinated burglary, targeting both his family's residence in East Elmhurst and their food-vending business in New Jersey.
The incident took place on May 2, 2026, while the family was away attending the wedding ceremony. According to reports, the suspects targeted a warehouse in Bayonne, New Jersey, where the family stored the equipment for their food-vendor business, stealing six pushcarts essential to their livelihood. Concurrently, burglars broke into the groom's residence in East Elmhurst, Queens, ransacking the home and stealing jewelry, cash, and irreplaceable family heirlooms.
Surveillance footage from neighbors captured individuals entering the East Elmhurst home shortly after the wedding party departed. The groom expressed his devastation over the incident, noting that the thieves took advantage of a publicly known family celebration to execute the crimes. "They knew we would all be at the wedding, and they took everything we worked for," he said.
Fortunately, the swift response of local law enforcement led to a breakthrough in the investigation. Police in both New York and New Jersey coordinated efforts, resulting in the arrest of three suspects linked to the break-ins. While some property has been recovered, the family is still working to rebuild their business and recover from the emotional toll of the invasion on what should have been their happiest day.
