Attempted Residential Break-In Thwarted by Vigilant Raleigh Homeowner

RALEIGH, North Carolina — Police are investigating an attempted residential break-in after a homeowner's quick reactions deterred a suspect from entering their home. The incident occurred during the late evening, prompting a rapid police response to the scene.

According to investigators, the suspect attempted to force entry through a rear door. However, the homeowner, who was awake at the time, heard the noise and confronted the intruder through the locked window, shouting at them and turning on exterior security lights. Startled by the confrontation, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Police units arrived shortly after the suspect ran off and conducted a search of the immediate area, though no arrests have been made yet. Authorities are currently reviewing neighborhood security feeds and collecting forensic evidence from the door frame.

Law enforcement officials praised the homeowner's actions but reminded residents to always prioritize personal safety. “Deterring an intruder is best done from a position of safety.
