Smash-and-Grab Burglars Steal Jewelry and Vehicle from Rochester Home

ROCHESTER, MN — Local homeowners are on high alert after a violent smash-and-grab burglary took place at a residential property in Rochester, resulting in the theft of high-value jewelry and the family's vehicle.

According to the Rochester Police Department, the perpetrators forced entry into the home by shattering a glass window, a classic smash-and-grab tactic designed to guarantee swift entry and exit. Once inside, the burglars ransacked the master bedroom, locating and stealing valuable jewelry items.

Before fleeing the premises, the suspects also located the keys to the homeowners' vehicle and used it as their getaway transportation. The residents were not at home at the time of the break-in, and the crime was discovered when they returned later that evening and immediately alerted the police.

Investigators are collecting forensic evidence from the point of entry and reviewing residential security camera footage in the neighborhood to trace the path of the stolen vehicle. Police advise residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles or individuals loitering in residential neighborhoods.
