ROCKFORD, Ill. โ€” The Rockford Police Department successfully apprehended an armed robbery suspect after utilizing the city's network of Flock safety license plate reading cameras to track the individual's vehicle, officials reported.

The incident began when police received a report of an armed robbery. Investigating officers were able to obtain vehicle information associated with the suspect. By leveraging the Flock safety camera network, which monitors traffic at key intersections, dispatchers and officers in the field received real-time alerts pinpointing the vehicle's location.

Armed with the automated tracking data, patrol officers quickly converged on the area and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Rockford Police Department leaders highlighted the integration of these license plate readers as a crucial force multiplier in modern law enforcement, enabling rapid response to violent crimes.
