Two Suspects Arrested Following Armed Robbery at Sacramento Car Show

SACRAMENTO, California โ€” Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a local car show in unincorporated Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office announced the arrests following a weeks-long investigation into the incident, which took place in mid-October.

Knife-Point Robbery at Community Event

The incident occurred on October 12, 2025, during a car show that drew numerous spectators. According to sheriff's detectives, the victim was confronted by two individuals. During the confrontation, one of the suspects, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, held a knife against the victim's stomach to prevent them from fleeing or resisting. The second suspect then proceeded to steal the victim's wallet containing cash, identification, and credit cards.

Stolen Cards Lead to Arrests

Shortly after the robbery, the suspects utilized the victim's stolen credit cards at multiple locations, including a local liquor store and a nearby Taco Bell. The electronic transaction trail, combined with security footage from the businesses, allowed detectives to identify the perpetrators. The adult suspect was identified as 25-year-old Joseph Barrera. Investigators revealed that Barrera, a local rapper, had been actively trying to build an online persona as a "violent criminal," which ultimately aided detectives in tracking him down.

Legal Proceedings

On November 26, 2025, the Sheriff's Office confirmed that both Barrera and the 17-year-old juvenile had been arrested and charged. Barrera faces charges of armed robbery and identity theft. Due to his age, the name of the juvenile suspect has been withheld, and his case will be handled through the juvenile justice system.
