One Suspect Dead, Another Injured After Shooting at Sacramento Cannabis Business

SACRAMENTO, California — A reported burglary at a Sacramento commercial property escalated into a fatal shooting early Friday morning, leaving one suspect dead and another wounded after a security guard opened fire.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded to reports of a burglary and shooting at a business identified as a local cannabis facility. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds outside the business. One of the suspects was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second suspect was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are currently being evaluated.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a security guard employed by the cannabis business confronted multiple individuals attempting to break into the facility. During the encounter, the guard discharged their firearm, striking two of the suspects. The security guard was not injured in the altercation and is cooperating fully with law enforcement investigators.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators remained on the scene for several hours to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. The Sacramento Police Department has not yet released the identities of the suspects involved or confirmed whether the security guard will face any charges pending a thorough review of the case by the District Attorney’s office.
