Armed robbery at Fair Oaks Taco Bell leads to car crash and arrest of suspect Donald Caviness
SACRAMENTO, Calif. โ A brief police pursuit ended in a car crash at a Sacramento-area home on Friday, September 26, 2025, after a suspect allegedly robbed a Taco Bell restaurant in Fair Oaks. The suspect was detained after a search of the neighborhood.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the armed robbery occurred at a Taco Bell location. Following the robbery, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Donald Caviness, fled the scene in a vehicle. When deputies spotted the suspect's car, they attempted to pull him over, but he refused to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit.
The pursuit ended when Caviness crashed his vehicle into a residential property near Edison Avenue. He then fled the crash site on foot, prompting authorities to seal off the area. Due to the active search, local schools were placed under shelter-in-place orders as a precaution.
Deputies located Caviness hiding under the deck of a home on Robie Lee Way. He was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on several charges, including armed robbery and felony evasion. A gun was also recovered near the scene of the arrest.
