Highland Neighborhood Man Johnathan Korrell Charged in $150,000 Salem Burglary Spree
SALEM, Ore. โ A Salem man has been arrested and charged in connection with a string of burglaries targeting multiple local businesses, resulting in the theft of memorabilia, jewelry, and collectibles valued at approximately $150,000. Among the items stolen was a rare guitar signed by the legendary rock band Kiss and 80,000 baseball cards.
A Month-Long Burglary Spree
The Marion County District Attorney's Office filed multiple felony charges against 36-year-old Johnathan D. Korrell following his arrest on January 14, 2025. According to court records, Korrell is accused of breaking into four commercial properties and attempting to burglarize a fifth in Northeast Salem between December 9 and December 31, 2024.
The thefts began on December 9 at the M&S Sales Flea Market, where burglars stole between $60,000 and $70,000 worth of jewelry. Later that month, on December 20 and 24, burglaries at 4 Season Estates resulted in the theft of a Fender Stratocaster guitar autographed by all four original members of Kiss, along with $1,000 in other band merchandise. On December 31, an attempted break-in at Powersport Services was reported, where suspects attempted to steal motorcycles.
Investigation and Arrest
Salem Police Department detectives identified Korrell using surveillance footage from the targeted businesses, matching the suspect's clothing and physical characteristics to Korrell. He was apprehended near his home in Salem's Highland neighborhood. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate other potential accomplices involved in the thefts.
Korrell is currently lodged in the Marion County Jail. He faces three counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree burglary, and multiple counts of theft, attempted burglary, and criminal mischief.
