Bold Convenience Store Theft Captured on Camera as Driver Tows ATM with Vehicle

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Security footage from a San Antonio convenience store has revealed a daring smash-and-grab incident in which a driver towed an entire automated teller machine (ATM) right out of the building.

The incident occurred on December 26, 2025. According to local store representatives and police, the driver backed a vehicle up to the entrance of the convenience store, attached a heavy strap or chain to the ATM, and drove forward. The brute force of the vehicle ripped the heavy machine from its anchors, shattering the storefront glass and causing extensive structural damage.

Surveillance cameras captured the vehicle dragging the ATM across the parking lot and around the gas station pumps before the suspect sped away from the location. Local detectives are examining the footage to identify the license plate and make of the vehicle. Store management is currently assessing the total cost of the physical damages and stolen funds.
