San Antonio: Thieves Target Antique Shop for Custom Spurs Fan T-Shirts
Just as basketball fever was hitting a peak ahead of the finals, a local South Side business in San Antonio fell victim to a targeted burglary. Karolina's Antiques, a popular shop known for selling unique Spurs merchandise, was broken into during the early morning hours on Tuesday.
Custom T-Shirts Stolen
The thieves were seemingly after one specific item: the special "Crazy Hispanic Fan T-Shirts," exclusively designed by the shop's owner, Anthony Diaz. According to surveillance footage, the break-in occurred around 2:00 a.m. The video clearly shows a man approaching the storefront and breaking a window to gain entry. He initially left the scene, only to return shortly after with a female accomplice. The pair then fled the shop carrying a bag stuffed with the highly sought-after t-shirts.
The burglary was discovered not by the owners, but by dedicated customers who had lined up early outside the store to purchase the exclusive merchandise. Upon seeing the shattered window, they immediately contacted Diaz.
Community Support Follows Heartbreak
"I was heartbroken just because we've really been trying our best to bring San Antonio so many unique things," Diaz expressed regarding the incident.
Hoping to catch the culprits, the shop owners shared the surveillance video on their Facebook page, asking the community for assistance in identifying the suspects. While the thieves remain at large, the owners have found a silver lining in the overwhelming community response. The break-in prompted an outpouring of support, with large numbers of customers visiting the shop to show their solidarity.
The San Antonio Police Department is actively investigating the burglary and urges anyone with information to come forward.
