San Antonio Smoke Shop Employee Pistol-Whipped, Narrowly Avoids Gunfire in Violent Robbery

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A smoke shop employee in San Antonio narrowly survived a terrifying and violent armed robbery on February 16, 2026. The victim was pistol-whipped by the assailant and narrowly avoided being hit by gunfire during the chaotic encounter.

According to reports from the San Antonio Police Department, a suspect armed with a handgun entered the retail store and immediately began making demands. During the confrontation, the suspect struck the employee on the head with the pistol, causing significant physical trauma. As the encounter escalated, the suspect discharged the weapon, sending bullets flying near the employee, who miraculously escaped being shot.

The suspect managed to flee the scene with cash and store merchandise before officers could arrive. Paramedics treated the injured employee on-site for lacerations and contusions.
