Serial Jewelry Thief Stole $200K, Arrested Nude After Striking Pedestrian During South Side Robbery

SAN ANTONIO, Texas โ€” A serial robbery suspect who allegedly targeted jewelry stores and pawn shops across San Antonio is back in custody after a bizarre crime spree that ended with a naked foot pursuit and a pedestrian hit-and-run.

The primary suspect, identified as 38-year-old Michael Allen Loving, is accused of stealing more than $200,000 worth of jewelry during a series of brazen smash-and-grabs that plagued local businesses over several months.

A Naked Escape on the South Side

The crime spree escalated dramatically on Sunday, November 23, 2025, near the intersection of Mayfield Boulevard and South Zarzamora Road. According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), Loving entered the jewelry counter inside a local H-E-B store on the South Side. He shattered a display case, grabbed a cache of jewelry, and fled the store.

In his rush to escape in a getaway vehicle, Loving drove onto a sidewalk, striking a 60-year-old male pedestrian. The victim suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Officers responding to the scene tracked Loving to a nearby residential neighborhood, where they arrested him as he was running naked through the streets.

Bail Out, Ankle Monitor Cut, and Re-Arrest

Following his arrest on November 23, Loving was booked into the Bexar County Jail on multiple charges, including robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. However, he subsequently posted bond and was released under the condition of wearing a GPS ankle monitor.

Loving's freedom was short-lived. In December 2025, police reported that Loving cut off his GPS ankle monitor and immediately resumed his criminal activity, executing several additional smash-and-grab robberies at jewelry stores and pawn shops. On December 16, 2025, SAPD investigators successfully tracked down Loving once again and took him back into custody without further incident.

Loving now faces a mountain of felony charges, including multiple counts of theft, criminal mischief, aggravated assault, and violation of bond conditions. Police continue to investigate whether he had accomplices during his multi-city crime spree.
