Intruder Breaks Into Iconic Pacific Beach Ice Cream Shop to Satisfy Sweet Tooth
SAN DIEGO, CA โ An intruder broke into an iconic ice cream parlor in Pacific Beach (PB) early Sunday morning, not in search of cash, but apparently to satisfy a sweet tooth.
According to business owners and surveillance footage, the break-in happened around 4:00 a.m. The suspect forced entry through a side window. Once inside, instead of targeting the cash registers or safe, the intruder went straight to the freezer area.
Surveillance cameras captured the man scooping out several servings of ice cream and covering them in various toppings. He spent nearly twenty minutes inside the shop consuming the treats before leaving the premises. Police officers noted that very little property damage was done, and no money was stolen.
"It's definitely one of the stranger break-ins we've seen," said a store representative. "While we are glad no one was hurt and the damage was minimal, it is still a violation of our business, and we want to ensure security is maintained in our neighborhood."
The San Diego Police Department is investigating the incident. They are hoping the clear security footage of the suspect's face will lead to an identification. PB community members have found some humor in the odd situation, though local business groups emphasize the need for safety and security.
