Sledgehammer-Wielding Burglars Target California Street Cannabis Company in San Francisco
In the early hours of Thursday, October 24, 2024, a group of thieves armed with sledgehammers executed a brazen break-in at the California Street Cannabis Company's location in San Franciscoโs Inner Richmond neighborhood. The smash-and-grab incident, which was captured on the storeโs high-definition security cameras, highlights a frustrating trend of retail burglaries targeting local dispensaries.
Late-Night Smash and Grab
According to San Francisco Police Department reports, the burglary occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. at the dispensary located on Clement Street. Surveillance footage shows a group of masked suspects descending upon the shop and using heavy sledgehammers to repeatedly strike and shatter the storefront windows. Once inside, the perpetrators quickly ransacked the display cases, grabbing retail merchandise before fleeing the scene.
A Narrow Escape
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene just as the suspect vehicle was speeding away. Despite an immediate attempt to track down the fleeing vehicle, the suspects managed to evade capture. The ownership of California Street Cannabis Company expressed deep frustration, noting that this is one of several break-ins they have suffered since opening their doors in 2021.
Store management is currently assessing the total value of the stolen goods and the extensive property damage left behind, while police continue their investigation using the retrieved surveillance video.
