Burglary Suspect Gets Trapped and Locked Inside San Francisco Gaming Store After Entering via Skylight
A commercial burglary suspect was caught red-handed after breaking into a San Francisco tabletop gaming store through a skylight, only to find himself trapped inside by newly installed security bars.
A Target for Tabletop Theft
The break-in took place at Game Post, a popular gaming store located on Third Street near Oracle Park. The store had been plagued by a series of burglaries in March and April 2026, during which valuable merchandiseโincluding rare Magic: The Gathering cards and collectible Pokรฉmon productsโwas stolen. Believing the same individual was responsible, the store's owner, Diana Goldman, upgraded the building's physical security by installing metal reinforcement bars beneath the rooftop skylights.
Trapped by Security Measures
On June 5, 2026, the suspect returned, executing the same entry method by breaching the rooftop skylight. However, the newly installed security bars functioned exactly as intended. While the suspect was able to squeeze through the opening, the configuration of the bars prevented him from climbing back out or accessing the main exit doors from the inside without triggering alarms and lock systems. Unable to escape, the suspect was trapped inside the building until law enforcement arrived and took him into custody.
The arrest brings relief to the local gaming community and the store owners, who had faced thousands of dollars in damages and lost inventory from the previous incidents. Police are investigating whether the suspect can be linked directly to the earlier springtime break-ins.
