Brazen Smash-and-Grab Burglary at Stonestown Galleria Jewelry Store Sparks Police Search

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The San Francisco Police Department is actively searching for a group of suspects involved in a brazen, daytime smash-and-grab burglary at a jewelry store located inside the Stonestown Galleria shopping mall.

According to police reports, the suspects entered the mall on August 5, 2024, and targeted the jewelry retailer. Witnesses reported hearing loud crashing sounds as the perpetrators shattered display cases to access high-value merchandise before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

Officers from the SFPD's Taraval Station responded to the call. However, the suspects had already fled the mall by the time police arrived. No injuries were reported during the fast-paced heist, which caused panic among shoppers and store employees nearby.

Investigators are currently reviewing security footage from the mall and the targeted establishment to identify the individuals involved. The Stonestown Galleria, located in the southwestern portion of the city, has seen increased security measures in recent months, but this latest incident highlights the ongoing challenges local retail centers face regarding organized retail theft.
