Confrontation During Attempted Outer Mission Break-in Sends Resident to Hospital

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — An attempted residential break-in in San Francisco's Outer Mission neighborhood escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in a resident sustaining injuries that required immediate medical treatment.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of March 8, 2024. According to the San Francisco Police Department, the suspect attempted to breach the security of an Outer Mission residence. The attempt was interrupted when the homeowner confronted the intruder. A physical struggle ensued before the suspect fled the area, leaving the resident with injuries requiring hospitalization.

Police officers arrived on the scene and immediately began securing the perimeter, but the suspect remains at large. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from neighboring properties to identify the perpetrator. The SFPD is reminding residents not to directly confront intruders and to call 911 immediately if they suspect an attempted break-in is occurring.
