Thieves Steal 35,000 Pokémon Cards in Heist at San Jose Collectibles Shop
SAN JOSE, Calif. — In a highly unusual and coordinated heist, thieves broke into the San Jose collectibles store Tofu's Trading and stole an estimated 35,000 Pokémon trading cards, a loss valued in the thousands of dollars.
Surveillance cameras captured the entire incident, showing the burglars breaching the security of the card shop. Once inside, they systematically gathered boxes and binders containing the popular trading cards. The heist was fast, deliberate, and targeted specifically at high-value inventory.
The shop owners discovered the break-in the following morning, finding their display cases disrupted and a massive portion of their stock cleared out. Pokémon cards have seen a massive surge in collectibility and value in recent years, making them prime targets for resale on the secondary market. San Jose police are reviewing the surveillance footage to identify the suspects involved in the burglary.
