Safety Alert Issued for West Seattle Businesses Following HVAC Thefts and Restaurant Break-ins

Local authorities and business association groups have issued a safety alert for commercial operators in West Seattle following a series of targeted thefts and break-ins. The warning highlights a disturbing trend where thieves are focusing on expensive infrastructure, specifically targeting commercial HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) units and restaurant buildings.

According to the safety advisory, several restaurants in the area have reported their exterior HVAC systems vandalized or completely stripped of valuable copper wiring and components. These thefts not only cause immediate operational disruption but also force business owners to incur thousands of dollars in replacement and repair costs.

In addition to utility thefts, multiple food service establishments in West Seattle have reported burglaries during non-business hours. Police suspect that a group or individual is capitalizing on quiet overnight hours to break into properties, targeting registers and easily transportable assets. The Seattle Police Department is urging business owners to secure their outdoor utilities, install motion-activated lighting, and verify that all security cameras are fully operational.
