Heavy Machinery Used to Rip Two ATMs from Wallingford Credit Union

SEATTLE, Wash. โ€” Authorities are investigating a daring and destructive heist in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood, where suspects utilized heavy machinery to steal two automated teller machines (ATMs) from a local credit union branch early Monday morning.

According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded to the scene in the 4000 block of Stone Way North after receiving reports of active destruction. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a piece of heavy construction equipment had been used to physically rip the two ATMs from their concrete foundations outside the building, causing significant structural damage to the exterior of the credit union.

Witnesses reported seeing the machinery in operation during the early morning hours, which was subsequently abandoned at the scene after the ATMs were successfully loaded into a getaway vehicle. The suspects fled the area before police arrived. Detectives from the Seattle Police Department's General Investigations Unit are reviewing surveillance footage and working to identify the suspects, as well as determine the origin of the heavy machinery used in the theft.

Local business owners and residents expressed shock at the brazenness of the crime. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Seattle Police Department's tip line.
