Greenwood Smoke Shop Target of Multiple Destructive Crash-and-Grab Burglaries

Seattle Police are investigating a highly destructive series of commercial break-ins at a smoke shop located in the Greenwood neighborhood. Suspects have repeatedly forced entry into the business, causing extensive damage and stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise.

In several of the incidents, thieves used stolen vehicles—including Kias—as battering rams to break through the storefront security gates. During one late-night crash-and-grab attempt, the owner of the smoke shop confronted the burglars. The suspects fled the scene shortly after the confrontation. No injuries were reported, but the property damage has put the local business community on alert.

Investigators believe a large group of suspects, possibly up to eight individuals in certain instances, are involved in these coordinated burglaries. Similar ram-raid incidents have also been reported at other regional businesses, including a pot shop in Woodinville and another smoke shop in West Seattle. Police are tracking down the owners of the stolen getaway vehicles, including a car registered to a Bellingham resident, to find leads on the suspects.
