Three Arrested After Dual Smash-and-Grab Burglaries at Simi Valley Liquor Stores
SIMI VALLEY, CA — Three individuals are in police custody following a series of overnight smash-and-grab burglaries that targeted two separate liquor stores in Simi Valley. The quick response of local law enforcement led to the tracking and arrest of the suspects shortly after the crimes occurred.
The burglaries began in the early morning hours when suspects used heavy objects to shatter the front windows of the first targeted liquor store. Once inside, they quickly grabbed inventory, including high-end alcohol and cash registers, before fleeing the scene. Shortly after, a second liquor store in the area was targeted in an identical manner, indicating a coordinated crime spree.
Simi Valley Police Department patrol officers, alerted by store security systems, quickly responded to the locations. Officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' getaway car nearby. After a brief pursuit and traffic stop, officers detained the occupants and discovered evidence linking them to both commercial burglaries, including stolen merchandise and tools used to breach the storefronts.
The three suspects were booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of commercial burglary and conspiracy. Police officials praised the rapid response of the officers and the effectiveness of the businesses' security systems, which were crucial in making the prompt arrests.
