Sioux City Man Arrested Following Late-Night Burglary at Select Mart

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Sioux City Police arrested a man late Saturday night after he allegedly burglarized a Select Mart convenience store. The incident occurred on May 11, 2024, and led to a rapid response from patrol officers who caught the suspect in the vicinity of the store.

According to police reports, officers responded to an alarm trigger at the Select Mart on Saturday evening. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a shattered window and other signs of forced entry. A search of the interior revealed that several items, including tobacco products and cash, had been taken from the registers and display shelves.

During a search of the immediate area, officers located a man matching the description of a suspect seen on the store's security cameras. The individual was carrying items consistent with those stolen from the Select Mart. He was stopped and subsequently arrested after brief questioning.

The suspect has been charged with third-degree burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of burglar's tools. He was booked into the Woodbury County Jail. The owner of the Select Mart expressed appreciation for the quick action of the Sioux City Police Department, noting that the damages were already being repaired.
