Sioux City Man Charged in Gas Station Robbery and Attempted Casino Heist

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A Sioux City resident has been arrested and charged in connection with a crime spree that targeted two local businesses, including a gas station and a casino, on September 23, 2024. The rapid response of local police led to the suspect being taken into custody shortly after the second incident.

According to the Sioux City Police Department, the suspect first entered a local gas station, demanding cash from the clerk. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the premises. Within a short period, police received a second distress call from a nearby casino, where a man matching the same description was attempting to rob the cashier's desk.

Casino staff acted quickly, refusing to comply with the suspect's demands and immediately alerting law enforcement. The suspect fled the casino empty-handed, but officers patrolling the area spotted him nearby and conducted a high-risk traffic stop.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with second-degree robbery for the gas station incident, as well as attempted robbery for the casino incident. The suspect was transported to the Woodbury County Jail, where he is currently being held on bond.
