Convicted Felon Arrested After Series of Spokane Construction Site Burglaries
SPOKANE, Wash. โ A convicted felon has been apprehended by the Spokane Police Department following an investigation into a series of recent burglaries at local construction sites, which had resulted in the loss of thousands of dollars in high-value professional tools and building materials.
According to authorities, the suspect targeted multiple active development projects throughout the Spokane area over several weeks. Job sites, which often contain expensive machinery, copper wiring, and specialized tools, have increasingly become targets for commercial theft. The ongoing thefts had caused substantial financial losses for local contracting businesses, along with project delays due to stolen equipment.
Detectives working the case successfully identified the suspect, noting that the individual has a prior criminal record with multiple felony convictions. Spokane police executed an arrest warrant, taking the suspect into custody without incident. Investigators recovered a portion of the stolen property during the arrest, though efforts are still underway to track down other tools that may have been sold on secondary markets or local pawn shops.
The suspect faces several charges, including second-degree commercial burglary and possession of stolen property. Spokane law enforcement reminds contractors and construction managers to implement strict security measures, such as installing surveillance cameras, locking up equipment in heavy-duty containers, and keeping detailed inventories of tool serial numbers to aid recovery in the event of a theft.
