Teens Accused of Brazen Gun Store Burglary in Springfield Embarked on Crime Spree with Stolen Weapons

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — A group of teenagers has been arrested and charged in connection with a high-profile commercial burglary at a Springfield gun store, which police say sparked a violent subsequent crime spree.

According to the Springfield Police Department, the suspect group broke into the licensed firearms dealer overnight, stealing multiple handguns and long guns. Following the break-in, the teens allegedly used the stolen weapons to commit a series of additional offenses in the area, including vehicle thefts and armed robberies.

Police departments collaborated across jurisdictions to track down the suspects. Following a coordinated effort, several juveniles were taken into custody, and a portion of the stolen firearms was recovered. Investigators are working to track down the remaining weapons before they can be used in further criminal activity.

"The speed at which these stolen firearms were integrated into other criminal acts is deeply concerning," a police spokesperson said. The investigation remains active, and charges are pending against the suspects in juvenile court.
