Hillsborough County Sheriff Seeks Suspect in Lux Smoke Shop Burglary in Tampa

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect caught on video during a commercial burglary at a local smoke shop early on the morning of Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The burglary occurred at Lux Smoke, a popular specialty store in Tampa. According to investigators, the suspect approached the front of the business during the early morning hours when it was closed. Using a blunt object, the suspect shattered the glass entry door to gain access to the store.

Once inside, the suspect bypassed other electronics and accessories to target the business's display of hemp flower products. The suspect stole a significant amount of packaged hemp flowers and fled the scene before deputies arrived. Surveillance footage shows a lone individual moving quickly through the shop under the cover of darkness.

HCSO Investigation and Appeal for Tips

HCSO detectives have released still images and video clips from the store's security cameras, hoping that someone might recognize the suspect's clothing, physical build, or mannerisms. The suspect appeared to be wearing dark clothing, gloves, and a face covering during the break-in.
