Four Arrested for Burglarizing Tampa Sporting Goods Store During Hurricane Milton

TAMPA, FL — In the midst of the extreme weather conditions brought by Hurricane Milton, the Tampa Police Department apprehended four individuals accused of burglarizing a local sporting goods store. The arrests took place on October 10, 2024, as the category-equivalent storm battered the Gulf Coast, leading to widespread evacuations and suspended normal business operations.

According to police reports, officers responded to an active commercial burglary in progress at a sporting goods retail location in Tampa. Despite the hazardous weather conditions, patrol officers were able to secure the perimeter and intercept the suspects. The four individuals allegedly gained unauthorized entry into the commercial establishment with the intent to steal merchandise under the cover of the hurricane.
