Thieves Use Skid Steer and GMC Truck to Tear ATM from Toledo Credit Union

TOLEDO, Ohio — A brazen early morning theft has left a central Toledo credit union branch with severe structural damage and police searching for a group of creative thieves. According to the Toledo Police Department, suspects utilized heavy construction equipment to physically yank an ATM from its foundation in a well-planned heist.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. on November 18, 2024, at the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union branch located at 3053 Monroe Street. Security camera footage captured the suspects operating a stolen skid steer loader alongside a maroon GMC pickup truck. In a display of brute force, the operator of the skid steer repeatedly rammed the ATM, successfully snapping the heavy metal bolts securing it to the concrete pad.

Once the machine was dislodged, the suspects loaded the entire ATM into the bed of the GMC truck and fled the area before officers arrived. Police arriving on the scene found only severed electrical wires, mounting bolts, and debris scattered across the drive-thru lane. Authorities are reviewing surveillance video from nearby businesses and asking anyone who may have witnessed a skid steer or GMC truck operating in the area during the early morning hours to contact investigators.
